I have to admit, this blog thing is difficult. Trying to come up with something people want to read. I mean I'm not here to put on a show for anyone, but I"m still trying to convince myself that I am entertaining enough. Anyway, when in doubt throw out a couple controversial statementes and you have yourself a scandal! So here we go....
Who determines what is a god-given right? I mean the hardest part of having values and principles is you have to base them on what you know to be true, but as proven through out history, that's been wrong time and time again. I mean back in the 1800's people didn't even consider Blacks to be human, or how about 3/5 a person, so to speak. Well, you know, what's the majority say? They were dead wrong, and you can't judge people on appearance in anyway. So one universal truth for me is "Treat People with Respect" I believe that each individual has value, and until they prove otherwise (which so many do) they deserve my respect.
So, an on-going debate is gay rights issues. I am have struggled mostly with this because a) of the universal truth I've mentioned above, and b) I am part of a faith that forbids such acts. Sooo... I'm just going to through out some ideas. First off, the history thing bugge d me, the idea that we have withheld rights from people for so long and we shouldn't have. Women's suffrage, Civil rights, came too slowly, and it's still a struggle for equality today. However, I finally realized that Being Gay is not the same as gender, or race. Being Gay is a choice, and if you deny that, you are foolish. So, i need to examine what being gay is....
To speak of the subject of being gay, i think two things. I do not think that apart from obvious physical differences that men and women differ by a significant amount. Obviously everyone is unique, but not to an extreme cause where I see it's just as reasonable to expect a man to fall in love with a man as a man to fall in love with a woman If you strip away the physical attributes, you have the soul of the person, and souls know no gender. On the second note, i do agree that homosexual acts of love are not natural. Our physical makeup and years of animal instinct clearly tell us what goes where and why. That is where I would say homosexuality is "unnatural" But that is dealing with a purely sexual act. Which is what creates my conflict:
How do you differentiate from seeing homosexuality as a very human response to another being and taking gender out of the picture and completely rejecting the physical aspect as essentially not natural. I do struggle with this because I see it as a major conflict between two views, and I can't resolve it.
So these amendments being passed by States that ban homosexual marriages? how should it be? how should it go? I do not know, but I still hope to be able to resolve my conflict and that will give me a better idea on where I stand about these changes because I believe gay rights is an issue that needs to be addressed. Not addressed with blind fervor on one side, but by open discussion, examing the true nature of homosexuality. There is so much hate out there, and there is no place for hate in this world! That is another universal truth

It's really amazing where you find inspiration. I was thinking about how much I love softball, but I don't really know how to convey it. Then I went to watch the team my brother coaches in volleyball. They are 7th grade girls, and he's trying to teach them the game right. Not to just go out there and hit the ball, but working on the fundamentals.
Walking into the gym was insane. Their game hadn't started, but the girls who were playing were so excited over even success. Each point the would squeal in a horribly high pitch, I wanted to clutch my ears to stop them from bleeding. However, their enthusiasm was easy to feel.
Watching my brother's team play such a great experience. It was the first time I've been to a youth sporting event in I don't know how long. To see the team react and respond to how they play. To watch these girls try to employ strategy and understand the game. To see how much they played the game because they enjoyed it. After being so wrapped up in pro sports, and even college level sports, which is just a stepping stone into the pros, watching these girls play was refreshing, because they were there giving it their all, and still took something from the game.
They didn't win, but that didn't take anything away from them. They get that it's a game, they get where the value lies. Victory can be celebrated, but only because victory is the end result of playing well. The girls celebrated their good plays, and even when something didn't go their way, they would "Get low" and be ready for the next serve.
So, every chance you get, go see a youth sporting event. It's cheaper, and you're going to see something much better than the game, you're going to see what it all means, and what it's all about. Forget the pros, they are lost in the business of entertainment! Go see some real sports!

Work vs. School
So in order to get a job, you need a college education.
However, in order to pay for school after you have dropped out once, you have to have a job.
It's really a vicious cycle I'm stuck in! School being the best option for further any career I may want, if I don't go about it right, I'm going to drown in debt built up from 3 previous years of schooling.
The hardest part has been my inconsistent schedule working and not making enough money these last 2 months. And I admit, i could have found other options to supplement hours, but i've also been working on finding something stable, and possibly with benefits. So that quest has led me to two options:
1. A computer tech job at BGSU that I would love!
2. A software company in Uniontown, Ohio that I have a second interview with, and could be my best job option available.
The former would be good for several reasons. One being I know someone working in the department and he's a good friend. I have family around that area. It would be a salaried job with benefits and good pay. I would also receive a certain amount of free credits I could use. That is the ultimate perk. One that has had me searching college human resources for job opportunities. Not much available, but if I could get something there, it would be fantastic!
The latter is one in a field I could enjoy and would pay pretty well starting pay ($10/her) and benefits. I would have to relocate, and possible quit school to work there full time. However, if I am able to get settled there, I could work school back into my schedule.
The other option is just going to school full-time. However, that means more loans, which is scary and also requiring me to fill out FASFA all over again. So, i can do that, but at this point, it won't work for this semester and maybe in the spring when I'm ready to go, chomping at the bit.
So, that is my view on my options ahead of me. I have to wait to make these decisions though, because I haven't actually gotten a job offer. The BG job might not even call me for an interview, i have to wait to hear about that whole process. Soooo.. school for now, but I think if I get one of the jobs, I need to rethink school, and put it off longer. Which won't be popular with the parents. Which is a scary thing, if you know anything about my mom (she is a sweet lady) but when it comes to my situation she is very unforgiving! I am intimidated by her, and fear her scrutiny.
Because I can't win unless I do what she thinks is best.
I think independence is really what I need, because as long as I keep using my parents as a crutch (a very financially stable crutch) I am not going to force myself to do something or accept the responsibility that I have to. The downside to that is, if I go and fail, i'm in a bit of trouble. So i continually debate this as I exist, and hopefully, it'll all work out for the best.

My favorite articles of clothing through out the years
I get attached to certain clothes, either because I really like them or for sentimental value. But when I get attached, I wear these clothes unusual amounts of the time, I'm talking days, weeks! So I'm compiling a list of the favorites that I can remember.
Favorite pants:
Currently, it's my jeans. They are the only pants I have left, and I can't replace them, even with a second option. I was on a "no jeans!" binge for a while, and now it's all jeans all the time.
I was into Jnco cargos for a while. I hade these ones that had the jnco logo with a crown on top, and I absolutely loved them. I still have them in the attic, but i haven't fit into those since freshman year of college. Eek!
shorts:
I had these board shorts that were navy blue with red dragons on the lower legs, and I loved them! I especially like wearing them playing softball when we were the dragons!
i also had just my standard khaki cargos from Aeropostale which was like the only thing I ever got that wasn't from Kohl's, but they grew on me and I wore them much more then all the shorts I got at Kohls.
Shirts:
This is the fun part!
My new favorite shirt is the one my sister sent my on my 23rd birthday, it's A Hiram College shirt, a blackish color with the logo on the front. I love it, and it definitely helps that it is from marie. I wear that 3-4 times a week.
The shirt I am wearing now, is a favorite, but I have no idea how I got it or who I stole it from. It's A UD ROTC shirt, which I never attended Dayton or joined ROTC, so someone must have left it at our house, but I have since claimed it. it's pretty basic, but I have a fondness for it.
The classics!
My all time favorite shirt was a baseball shirt. It was an american flag with a baseball super imposed over the front. I wore this one a lot. It was a heart breaking day then my bastard of a brother threw an apple at it and stained it, and I think he ripped it too! Anyway, on top of looking cool, the maker's logo was tops as well. On the left sleeve it had a Frozen Ropes logo, which was a baseball with a rope coming out of it, above it it said Frozen Ropes, and below the rope has icicles attached to it. Glorious!
My Dragon's jersey is my precious. It was the year John and I started the team, and we had no idea what we were doing, so John made our jerseys. With the help of a local artist (whom we paid for the dragon art) John came up with the design. I still wear it with pride!
My flannel shirt
This I admit is embarassing, but every year when the weather turned cold, I would think I was cool by pulling out this oversized flannel shirt and wearing it for real, or open and more like a coat. It was a red plaid design, and definitely made me look like a hillbilly. I still love it, but I am thinking I was more Al Borlin than Tim Allen.
My dad's old bowling shirt
This is a piece of history. It's bright yellow with a black collar. It's got Mickey on the left chest and a sponsor's logo "Doc's commissioner's" on the back. This is that retro cool look, and I'll pull it out for special occassions. So ladies, if I'm wearing that on a date, you know you are lucky! I wore it outside once, and it was so bright yellow, i was attracting bugs!
My favorie tie:
Having gone to Ed's I went through a repetoire of ties. I had two favorites. My dad bought me a tie on an 8th grade trip to Baltimore, it was looney toons characters in colored boxes, with the other part of the tie black. It was fun, and also my first tie. I wore it a lot freshman year.
The other one is actually Steve's, but I wear for most of my senior year, walking around saying "Everyday is St. Patrick's Day!" It had leprechauns in rows. Pretty trendy.
Favorite sweater:
This is pretty easy! I've only owned 2 sweaters. my favorite one was the one Jackie and Ryan sent me freshman year in a care package after Liz had dumped me. It was full of candy and the sweater. It was gray, with one blue and red stripe across the chest, it's the balls! I still have it, but would need to lose a gazillion pounds to fit into it. It's classy, and the first time I had really taken to a sweater.
Favorite sweatshirt:
This is a tough one, I've had a lot of good ones in the day. I was a big fan of my St. Ed's hoodie. And definitely, i had this cool brownish green wooster sweat shirt that I liked, but eventually passed on to marie. The one I was most fond of was from marie on my 20st birthday. It was a simply royal blue with an AE logo. I loved it and wore it all the time. It's a little small on me now but I still wear it, cause I can't help but love it.
Favorite socks:
This is pretty simple, i wear normal socks, so nothing special there. But my softball socks! I love wearing those. Solid Red or Royal blue
FAvorite shoes
Black hi-tops with Ken Griifey's number on it, and some teal here and there. unbeatable!
The classic combo
I had this outfit that I got from my aunt sheila. It was a salmon colored shirt with some sort of fish design with these aqua bluish shorts with fish in columns. It was by far the coolest outfit I ever owned, and I would buy a replica today if it existed. I loved that thing and there's a good picture of me in it. I have a tail, ryan has a mullet, john o and john clearly are with us. We are putt-putting, and we all look ridiculous. I love being a little kid!
That's all i got for now, i'll get more revelant stories up later!

Why the Indians are making the playoffs!!
For one, the Indians are a solid team.
Offense: The line-up is dangerous 1-9. All nine have hit more than 10 homers and a couple more by 2-3 guys and it's 15 homers for 1-9. Speed at the top. Smart hitters 3-5, and the rest are serviceable. Broussard has a knack for hitting the clutch hit!
Defense: It leaves something to be desired, but these guys have proven time and time again that they can come back from errors! So, small flaw, but definitely can be worked around.
Pitching: Their pitching staff! Pitching is more important than offense, but with the offense they have, they wouldn't need as much pitching, but they have it! That is why they have the best record in baseball since the all-star break. Sabathia, Millwood, and Lee can dominate. Westbrook and Elarton are much better than the average 4th and 5th starters as well. And their bull-pen is the best in baseball. 2.87 ERA 45 Saves and a 78% save rate, highest in the league.
The Indians are hot right now. They believe in themselves and so do the fans. This is for real and that confidence is a huge intangible, they are sure while others have questions. The Yankees rotation is still unstable, Oakland has been cold as of late, and Boston and LA are both worried about their divisions!!!
In the event of a tie at the end of the season, the Indians own home field advantage for any 1 game playoff they are involved in. Less travel, and the home fans.
Schedules: The indians play the royals (6), devil rays (3), and the white sox (6). Royals should be an easy series win both times. The Devil Rays are inferior to the Indians but playing good baseball right now, a small concern. The white sox are difficult, however, they aren't playing good baseball right now, and the Indians could take the division if they win 4-6 of those games there. In addition, the Indians have 2 off days remaining. No other team has that luxury!
The Yankees have Toronto, Baltimore, and Boston left. Boston will be a huge series, but Toronto and Baltimore aren't push overs as much as KC and TB are. And the yankees know they can win their division, i think the bloodlust will help.
The A's are pretty much out of the wild card race. Their best bet is to win the division, which is within in reach. They have a tough series against Boston coming up, and which ever way that goes will probably decide the West and East division winners.
So, I would love to add more of my in dewpth research and statistics, but sorting through them this late isn't feasible. Take my word for it, the Indians will be playing in October, hopefully as the Central League Champs, but I'll take the wild card, either way, they are in! You can take that to the bank!

I definitely got roped into this whole blog thing. I am mostly a private person and don't go broadcasting my thoughts and feelings to a group of people let alone an infinite amount of them. However, two of my friends have recently started blogs and that inspired me to do mine. 1) Ryan started his in Korea, and it's an awesome way of following his experience. But the other thing about it is that it's Ryan. He's open and shares his day and feelings and you can tell that's what he is all about and you have to respect that.
The other is J.T. who is also in Korea, and I enjoy his posts, but those only come once every 3-4 weeks. So, to show that I can keep up a blog and continue to post, in the hopes that he will also be encouraged to keep putting up posts on his blog.
I don't think i necessarily have anything interesting to say, but i'm hoping in sharing my experiences and little truths that it'll be as interesting and entertaining as I find my friends. I also have a lot of time to kill in between classes.
I'd say for the most part I am unsettled. I am commuting to Kent for classes MWF, i am looking for a steady job while working whatever shifts my Browns security job tosses my way. I do not want to be living at home, but my financial situation leaves me no choice. All the while, I am trying to figure out what I want to do in life, but can't make a decision to choose one course to study in college.
I'm finding a degree is necessary to get a quality job, but it's not necessarily the specialization in that subject that helps, I think it's more important to build the learning and research tools to acquire knowledge and skills you need to handle a demanding job. I think that is where my problem comes with the degree. I would rather focus on the specialization rather than developing these tools, and there in i struggle, regardless of what subject I may pick, bound to fail because I'm not focusing on the truly important.
That's my first rant, and now i'd like to share to things, one good one bad
I love softball! I have a fall league going and i just love playing. The sport, i'll play with anyone. Our first game went horribly, 23-2. I still had fun, i played well . I just worry that if the season continues that way, it will be hard to play for fun. Winning isn't the be all end all, but it definitely helps. And I can go on like that all season, i just don't know if all the players can. So that will be a work in progress, and I think improvement is more important than winning.
Now the ugly. I've been in this funk lately, and I think the thing for me is, i feel my social life has kind of gone stale. I still have good friends, but i feel like i don't meet new people and that stinks. So i need to work on that. I'm think im chats with friends as opposed to individually iming each person is sooo much better, so I do that when I can. But i wanted to use a chat room just to talk about anything, sports, news, current events, politics, just be dumb, have fun, annoy people, talk to someone new, whatever. But the chatrooms are ridiculous, they are so overrun with bots selling porn there are no people in there. Which kind of ruined it and made me mad. So that's the bad, and I'm done for now.
